Definition: DCC is a connection protocol used on IRC that stands for Direct Client-to-Client.. That means that your computer estaglishes a direct connection to someone else's computer, to exchange information. This is how people on IRC exchange files, be it Word files or WAV files, MP3s or JPGs, if they're sent via IRC, they're sent via a DCC send. You can also chat with someone via DCC. A DCC chat is a relatively secure method of communication. It's a private chat with one other person, and, except for the initital DCC request and acknowledgement, it doesn't go through the IRC servers that may be separating you. This also eliminates lag.

Also Known As: Direct Client-to-Client protocol, Direct Client-to-Client connection.
